The National High-performance Medical Apparatus and Instruments Innovation Center has settled at the Silver Star Intelligent Industrial Park in Guanlan Subdistrict, Longhua District on Wednesday.
It is the country’s first national-level innovation center in the medical device sector and the city’s first national-level innovation center in the manufacturing industry.
The medical apparatus and instrument industry in Shenzhen takes the lead in China. At the same time, Shenzhen is also an important base of the medical instrument industry around the world.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved the establishment of a national high-performance medical apparatus and instruments innovation center in Shenzhen in April 2020.
Since the approval, according to Zheng Hairong, director of the center, a research building of 20,000 square meters has been put in place and more than 30 researchers from home and abroad have joined the center.
The center is an enterprise and also a platform. It adopted the operation mode of enterprise+alliance. Specifically, the enterprise, Shenzhen High-performance Medical Apparatus and Equipment National Research Institute Co. Ltd., and a strategic alliance will be set up to integrate innovative resources such as leading enterprises in the medical device industrial chain, research institutes, higher learning institutions and industry associations.
Jointly established by the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenzhen Mindray Biomedical Electronics Co. Ltd. and some other organizations, the center is expected to serve the entire industry and important application areas, and to create a global open platform for innovation, entrepreneurship and industrial integration.
“The innovation center will adopt a dynamic and flexible mechanism in innovation collaboration, intellectual property operation and talent recruitment. It is expected to fill the gap between academia and industry through technological innovation and engineering,” said Zheng.
